Kurt Vile and the Violators are the longtime backing band for singer-songwriter Kurt Vile, who rose from self-released home recordings to international acclaim. Vile signed to Matador Records in 2009 and broke through critically with the 2011 album Smoke Ring for My Halo; he later collaborated with Courtney Barnett on the 2017 album Lotta Sea Lice. The group has continued releasing records and touring, with recent releases on Verve Records.
