About
This NightLites concert explores the refined sound world of French impressionism through music by Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel. Conducted by Molly Turner, the program opens with Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, a landmark work known for its fluid lines and dreamlike atmosphere. Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin follows, offering clarity, elegance, and rhythmic vitality through its modern reimagining of Baroque dance forms. Debussy’s Petite Suite, presented in Henri Büsser’s orchestration, brings a sense of charm and gentle motion, while Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite closes the evening with richly colored storytelling drawn from childhood fairy tales. Together, these works create a cohesive and immersive concert that highlights orchestral color, texture, and expressive nuance in the intimate setting of the Ogle Center.
